Masa harina is cast in white earthenware ceramic and glazed in lead-free, matte transparent.
masa harina
Masa harina is created from the packaging of Mexican corn flour used in tortilla making. Originally a plastic packaging, it is transformed into ceramic. It's new life should be spent holiding handfulls of flowers or supplies on your desk at the office.
The base of masa harina is left unglazed and instead, is treated with organic beeswax. This layer of wax seals off the raw ceramic and prevents absorption of any liquids that might stain the base. The beeswax gives the base a tan color and a sweet smell!
Heir Ceramics are made by hand. Even though these pieces are created in molds, each is trimmed, cleaned, and glazed uniquely. Some pieces have small imperfections that give quirky character.
Hand wash.
